Summary of question
1. Is Istihala (transformation) include those drugs which contain animal\'s gelatin like pig?
2. What is the ruling on using those creams may have been produced by animal corpse?
question
1. There are some drugs and pills in England which contain animal\'s gelatin -like pig- but it looks like the stearin pill. Since we don’t know it has undergone any transformation (Istihala) or not, can you please tell us the ruling on using such pills and drugs?
2. Since many hand creams and foodstuffs contain glycerin or glycerol and it may have been produced with grass, animal and artificial materials and there hasn’t been mentioned anything on their boxes whether it is halal or not, can you please tell us the ruling on using such that creams and foodstuffs?
Concise answer
1. If you are sure the foodstuff has been extracted from those animals that are ceremonially unclean or those which haven’t been slaughtered canonically but a lot of changes have been made on that foodstuff to become like stearin pill it would be considered as halal and tahir and have the same ruling as the Istihala, otherwise, eating such that foodstuff is haram unless you have no choice but to eat (take) it. Since it has apparently been transformed (Istihala) it is treated as clean.
2. If you are not sure from what thing the foodstuff has been extracted it is treated as halal and there is no need to be examined.

The grand maraja' answer regarding the above-mentioned question is as follows:[1]
The office of Grand Ayatollah Khamenei (May Allah grant him long life):
1. If these pills have two kinds of halal and haram divisions and you don’t know which one of the both you are taking it is treated as halal.
2. There is no problem.
The office of Grand Ayatollah Sistani (May Allah grant him long life):
1. If you are dubious about from grass or animal the gelatin has been extracted there would be no problem to eat (take) it and no need to be examined. Otherwise, if you know it is extracted from animal and not sure the animal has been slaughtered canonically you are not allowed to eat it even it has been provided by animal's bones according to the obligatory precaution.
However, if you are sure that its material has been transmuted by the chemical operation there is absolutely no problem to take it, but the Istihala hasn’t approved yet.
2. It is clean (Pak).
